Email server built in PHP

Hey guys, I'm thinking of building an email server in pure PHP. Why ? Because I don't know much C, C++ or Java. Because I find current mail server to be hard to setup (Postfix/Exim/Sendmail + Dovecot/Courier + ClamAV + Antispam + this and that...). Then you have to get into complicated config files ...

Re: Microsoft are Getting Desperate

They should spend more time developing the thing so people wouldn't go for Chrome or FF instead...

I hear IE10 might be a bit better. If they integrate it well with Windows 8, that might not be to bad :)

Secure PHP API: how to ?

Hello world, It's been a long time since I came to this forum. So Hello :P What's up with you guys ? I was wondering if you knew any good tutorials on how to make a secure PHP API. Do you have to use cURL to make secure requests ? It seems a lot of API's made by service providers (Paypal...) use cUR...

Thanks Josh :)

I'll have a look at them :) Why would you say are these better than, say, Symfony or Zend ?

Re: Ubuntu

I used Unity a few times but didn't like it. So I just switched to Xubuntu. It works just as good but with XFCE instead of Gnome :)

I like it alot.

What framework ?

Hello, I would like to start using a PHP framework, to kind of get used to OOP, because I don't really get the point of it. I would like to try a framework that is not packed with too much stuff but has enough to get me started, maybe create a simple CMS or something. Could you give me any advice pl...

Re: CMS Project ? Suggestions.

I probably won't be doing a CMS any more, the idea seemed good at the time. But now I think it would be rather long winded and mostly made up of me reading out SQL statements. Which is why I also thought it'd be weird. Which is why I thought you were planning on making it kind of a community thing....

CMS Project ? Suggestions.

Hey BP Community :P I just wanted to say some things about the CMS project Jacek has added to the list of things to come. 1- I would like to see BetterPHP make a XML CMS, or at least something without MySql, without need for a DB. There are so many MySql CMS's out there, that I feel like we should t...

Re: Hi (again)

Well, I spent most of my afternoon on working to get all links from a page, all as absolute URLs, regardless of what is provided on the website. It's kind of a mess to get right without using too many REGEXs

Re: Wikipedia link format ?

Well, Twitter uses it too.

And PHP doesn't think this is a valid URL when using the FILTER_VALIDATE_URL, which is kind of idiotic IMO.

Anyways, thanks for answering :)

Re: About the October Contest

I've actually looked around for some things like how to make a relative URL to absolute with PHP. All I could find kinda sucked so I just did it myself =D lol Quick question: how many entries are you up to now ? I've done about 20% of mine. Debugging takes so fucking long. Might be me not being that...

Re: Hi (again)

Cool :P I'm not getting my hopes up too much anyway. I guess there are some insane coders that would do such a thing in like an hour or something, right ? :P But anyways, this thing is keeping me busy. It's a great idea ! It's original :) I would have worked on that contest even if the price was an ...

Hi (again)

Hello people, I have not been active on here lately. I was kinda playing games all the time, not working on anything special. But with school starting (I study computer science and mathematics), I'm getting back into programming in C and PHP. I'm also preparing a modest entry for the October contest...

Re: Simple, secure application file system

Well, actually, if the webhost has not thought about making one temps folder per user, users are able to access the session files of others with PHP. If they find out what site's are hosted on their server, they can then steal sessions and log in as someone they are not.
