Ubuntu
I just installed Ubuntu on my other computer (its easily capable of running it, but cba posting specs)
anyway, i installed it fine. no problems, came to restarting the computer and it says that there is no video input to my monitor.
It isn't recognising it, but the boot menu shows up, and the quick flash of the blinker thing that looks like an underscore.
Then it just doesn't show anything. Help?

Re: Ubuntu
Huh? Ubuntu Server? I read that Ubuntu Server has no GUI installed, at least not by default.

Re: Ubuntu
Its desktop
And rescue mode won't work.
Is there a way to get my ip address? Or will it be the same as my laptops (for some bizarre reason?)
They're different machines.

Re: Ubuntu
You can log in to your routers interface thingy and there should be a list of all the IPs somewhere. Just try a few

Re: Ubuntu
You can ssh to the local IP Or use http://jacekk.co.uk/ip.php which will tell you your external IP address.

Re: Ubuntu
I have the IP and when I navigate to it it works, but how do i set it up to use a domain name to it instead of the ip? So if i gave you my domain name, you'd be able to see it for example

Re: Ubuntu
Open the ports, and use a dynamic dns thingy because your ip probably changes every x hours (most ISPs do that) or when you reboot your router.bowersbros wrote:I have the IP and when I navigate to it it works, but how do i set it up to use a domain name to it instead of the ip?
