Can you make PHP NOT open source?... like, you have something cool made in php but you don't want others to see the source (easily at least)

Not really no, there are things like Zend Gaurd, but there are also things like http://showmycode.com/ making that a bit pointless.

It is a php module that decrypts php code and processes it as normal code. There is a program that encrypts code to work with Zend Guard.
