An irc channel. Easy to set-up on an active server (all you would need is a room...) and helps the community get to know each other. I am in about 4 as I type so they are used

If you want I could set one up for you? register the room etc... then give you ownership. Saves you the time, all you need to do is register your nick.

I don't see why an IRC chat would be viable at this stage in the forums development.

I suppose. No harm no foul.
It would surprise me though if there were ever many people in, or regularly. I mean, there are IRC chats with forums with hundreds and hundreds of users that rarely get more than 5 or 6 people in them.

I'm on it sometimes but I tend to check on the same websites every 10 minutes and then I close all tabs no matter what it is.

Due to using mibbits server the client I almost always use cannot connect, however i am in there every now, and then.

We need more active members ( I'm thinking around 500 total members and about 60-100 active members ) for this to work.

But really you only need about 20-50 active for an IRC to work. Looking forward to it though
