What do you want on your profile page ?

Hoping to get some free market research...
Currently working on the profile page and control panel for XHBB and I noticed that phpBB allows you to set a huge amount of things, and nobody ever does.
So what do you want people to see on your forum profile ?
Also if you can think of anything cool that can go on the profile that would help too, I want it to be more than just where moderators go to ban people.

Well the obvious stuff like: avatar, signature, website, contact information, user statistics etc etc. But maybe you could add like a small bio or interests or something of that nature.

Got that

I called it "About Me" but that's basically already added too

Alright.
Maybe you could add some more common contact "types" like: MSN, Skype, Xfire(?), Steam(?), regular email.
PhpBB isn't really offering the common "types", it has MSN but the rest I've never heard of
Other than that, I can't really think of anything more.

I don't use any of the stuff on any forums that say "customize this" it's kind of pointless. saying that if you have something like a banner that links back to the profile it can be free advertising... and people use them.

That's what I want to change
How about making it more like a social networking profile ? with an activity feed, comments and all that nonsense ?

Comments I guess could just go into a PM but an activity feed I guess could be useful.

Thought you were asking what could be left out for some reason but OK. I don't think i will ever use any of it.

One option that might be interesting is for administrators to be able to add custom fields to user profiles. So they would add a field like 'favorite food' or something, and users would be given the option of filling that field in on their profile.
Personally I'm not a very big fan of that comment kind of thing. It's a forum, not a social networking site. That's also part of the reason I think IPB is so overly bloated currently. It's a damn forum profile, not a facebook page.

That makes sense, although what forum profiles tend to be is a bit pointless

Why even have much of a profile? What benefit does it really provide? The point of a forum is to find answers, not to talk to all you wonderful people

That's the point of this forum, not all. Most are just for discussions.

i'd say multiple website fields. cuz people might have multiple websites or just links that belong to them (like, facebook page versus website versus webs website). and each would be an actual hyperlink with it's own text, instead of just being displayed.

^^^I like that idea.

A friend list and the ability to have say 5-10 friends on your profile.
Also, the comment thing isn't such a bad idea.

So do I
I will add that.

I can make it turn-off-able

Bit too social-network-ish, phpBB has friend features, how many people use them

maybe instead of a traditional 'friends' group, it could be more like an address book, so its easier to private message them (drop down list with their names in it?) or maybe a 'send to all friends' option or whatever, so then you could have 'friends' as a group sort of thing, for if your all working on a project together or something like that?
Also, the forum in general needs like a code 'holder' like the [ php] syntax thing, but maybe make it look nicer?

That make sense, I will put it on the ever growing todo list

Not by default, but I am making a syntax highlighting mod to be the first mod

a sort of 'code preview' area, where you have say.. 1GB of space where you can store all of your code, have it either private or public. if public it is displayed on your profile page under Source Code or whatever.
Note: not preview more sourcecode holding like git-hub
