I can say the same thing... It makes more sense that the universe has developed over billions of years to what it is today from a single starting point than that it was created by something which has existed forever.

We don't know, but the fact that we do not know is not a flaw in the argument against it being God that created everything.
Saying that God created the universe is just replacing one unknown with another and living in ignorance happily believing something which there is no evidence for.
It's widely accepted that the theory of Evolution is basically correct, there is masses of evidence for it. Rejecting all of this on the basis of a single book that has no factual relevance makes no sense to me !
Also, where did this ball idea come from ?
