Using XAMPP to upload & send files from localhost

Post by benjaminitk »

Hi i'd like to know how I can set up my localhost in order to send e-mails as the mail() function isn't working in php. I'd also like to know how if possible I can upload files, probably zipped and unzipped word and pdf documents, to the localhost and send them from localhost in an e-mail.

I've got XAMPP with the usual stuff apache, mysql, filezilla, mercury and tomcat.

Is this easy to do? I've never done this before so panicking/ nervy about doing it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Mercury is the email thing, if you have the running and it's still not working it could be our ISP blocking mail from their users to prevent spam.
