Im thinking of making a web app like phpbb, ipb etc but for music only thing is i want to make money off it so is it worth making to the best i can then selling it or would something like that not sell?

I would say it all depends on the quality of your product. If you make something better than what already exists, it will sell.

I think nowadays, you should start by giving things out for free, and once lots of people use your stuff and you have gotten some 'authority', you can add paying options or things like that. Free stuff is what drives people to you.
