Login Integration

Post by wrichards8 »

I have altered my website significantly since I last posted. One of the most recent things I added was a forum. My question is should I bother attempting to integrate the forum login system with the existing login system of my site? To access the forum, if you guys want to get involved, go to the Twisted Media homepage and click on "Fan Forum"

I recently faced a similar problem actually. In the end we decided that using the same login system was a good idea since the forum was part of the website, why would anyone want to register twice ?

I believe I read somewhere about an already existing library of functions used to seamlessly link an external website with a phpbb forum database. I'll edit this post if I can find it. I bet it can't be that hard to find on The big G though.

/Edit, I found it, but apparently it's been discontinued because phpbb has these built in now. Even better :)

OK I may get round to doing it in time but, for now, they will stay separate.

Just thought I'd update you all, I have ended up writing my own forum to make sure the design was consistent with the rest of my site and I wouldn't have to rewrite all my user administration functions but now I feel as though I have reinvented the wheel.

Oh I hadn't signed up (if thats what you mean)

But I noticed you're own website thing (jacekk.co.uk) and found it was just a directory listing. I saw MineBlown and had a look :)
